So I'm eighteen now! And I recolored that picture (it was lost, but I think I did a better job this time) and am actually still working on it to make it better and make the wings not look like a butt sandwich. I want to thank you folks for your kind wishes - it's funny how this is something pretty much everyone commiserates about. :)

SO the birthday was good, and I am doing sketchvember, just haven't had a chance to upload my thingies yet.
Tiny Romans. That's all I'm gonna say.

P.S. HOLY SHIZNAT, if you haven't seen "The Secret of Kells," or "Brendan and the Secret of Kells" or whatever it is called in your country, DO IT, it is like a delicious cake for your eyes, and your eyes will thank you, and be all "Wow, [your name here] I definitely needed that, now I will see the glory that is life and animation and be eternally renewed by having seen that masterpiece."

That is what they will say.
To you.

So if you have Netflix, it's on Instant Watch, or you can get the DVD through SOME means, but please, PLEASE do it legally. Normally I don't really care, I've done some illegal downloading myself (COUGHSHERLOCKCOUGH) but honestly, these animators are NOT from some huge company, and they deserve the money and recognition for the ENORMOUS amount of love and work put into this film.
Believe me. You won't regret it.

I watched this after reading about it on :iconrufftoon:'s journal. And now it's on display at my uni (Trinity College, Dublin) the current home of the real Book of Kells. Now if only I had watched it before going to the exhibit...

That is SO cool, I would love to someday see the real thing! Minnesota has its own similar claim to fame though... have you heard of the St. John's Bible?
[link] It's got some GORGEOUS work. :)

The only bad thing about the exhibit is that it's really dark, so the gold leaf and stuff doesn't really come out.

Ohh, to preserve the colors, I'm guessing. That's too bad!

But the one thing that bugged me was that once, they put a print copy on display because the real one was undergoing archaeological refreshment. OTL And since it's always so dark, you can't really tell, so I feel that if I had to pay to see it, I would have been ripped off.

HA, that's terrible! It's nice that you don't have to pay, though. Is that for everyone, or just uni students?
Reply
:iconfirnheledien:
Just for students of the uni and 2 guests per student. :)

Gotcha, cool beans. I've been thinking about doing my study abroad in the British Isles - that would be a really cool place to do it!

sketchvember: much more likely to be pleasing and rewarding than novembeard.
And apparently I'm cognitively retarded right now (mm great timing, one hour before chem lab. oh wait, it doesn't require brains to use a spectrophotometer) so all I will say now is derp derp herp, kittens.
Alot of kittens.

OH MY GOD, YES.

P.S. I really miss my tablet right now.
